Parent info

Access to the camp is via the main gate at 925 Purangi Road.

What to bring to camp

  • sneakers or bush shoes (NO gumboots or jandals), shoes to be worn at all times for health and safety reasons

  • a hearty lunch plus snacks and a drink bottle for each day

  • warm clothes (old is probably better!)

  • a hat

  • sunscreen

  • change of clothes recommended (including shoes)

  • specific items required by electives attended (e.g. an ice-cream container for clay, towel and change of clothes for the water slide - the registration pack will include details relevant to each camper’s schedule)

Remind your children take all their gear home. Do not bring cell phones or valuable items. Lost property will be discarded if not claimed by the end of the last day (it is usually too muddy to save).

On Arrival

Knowing who is where is very important to us.

  • Children arriving by car need to be checked in at the Camp Office on arrival

  • All adults visiting camp will also need to check in at the Camp Office, and out again when they leave

  • Children on the ferry and buses will be checked off as they board their transport

Thursday afternoon

On Thursday, parents, family and friends are invited to come to camp from 2pm. At 2:30pm there will be Tent Time including presentations followed by a sausage sizzle. After that there is opportunity for parents to join their children in some activities until 4:30pm.

We expect most campers will travel home with family on Thursday, but if your child requires transport on this last afternoon please make sure to mark this on the registration form.

If your child is going home in the car with you, please make sure you check him/her out when you leave. We will stop you half way down the gravel road, please have your child's registration number ready.

Absences

If your child is registered and can't attend on the day, please call the Camp Office on 021 0820 6671. Note that this phone is only active and attended during camp.

Pick ups: Please help us keep your children safe by signing out at the Camp Office when you leave so we know they are no longer on site.

Publicity photographs and videos

Photographs and video may be taken during Camp for use on the Day Camp website and potentially also for use in local papers in articles about the Camp. If you do not want your child included in this publicity material, please contact the Organising Committee via email (daycamp.mercurybay@gmail.com), or talk to the administration team at the Camp Office.

Camper helpers needed

We need lots of adult helpers for all kinds of fun jobs at the camp. Even if you are only available for one of the days, we'd love to hear from you! Check out the Adult Helper page for more details.
